Fictional election campaign

As a second year Major Atelier assignment we had to create a campaign website for a fictive presidential candidate for the USA. It also had to be for a republican candidate, which didn't make it easier create a concept and design for.

As a result (seeing this was a ficitive campaign) I chose to give my candidate 3 core statements that would lead his campaign to become the next president of the United States. I incorporated this in my design through the use of big text on posters, the campaign website itself as well as in the mobile website.

Upon visiting the mobile website for this campaign the user would get 3 statements on which he could click to easily vote. This then got saved in a database and visualised on the main website. And through the use of statements (each on one poster) with their coresponding QR-code users could easily scan in the QR code and would get redirected to the appropriate URL to vote for that specific vote. This in turn got visualised on the main website again.

Things I learned

Asside from the obvious things I learned when designing this campaign I also learned how to combine different media to make a concept stronger. A website alone isn't always enough and thanks to this assignment I had a nice opportunity to start thinking about how to incorporate different media in one concept / campaign

As a nice bonus (at that time) it learned me how to work with QR-codes and it was also one of my first mobile designing / development assignments. I had never before created something (be it design or develop) for a mobile platform. Something that these days is a very important part of a web developer's skillset.
